Video: New animated series The Driver is our kind of awesome

There's a reason we still stand behind the OG Speed Racer. Yes, the animation was about a half-shade above what we could crank out flip-book style, and yes, to call the plot repetitive would be gracious at best. But the series also featured what we loved most as young auto-obsessed creatures – insane cars doing insane things fender to fender every Saturday morning. That series likely drove some of us to bust our own knuckles and put our first cars through the kind of hell that can only be attributed to a proper learning curve.

The gang at SoundMan Car Audio was the first to install an Apple iPad into an automobile when they dropped one into the dash of a Toyota Tacoma pickup the very day the device was officially released. That install was pretty slick, but required a bit of customization to the dash and a relocation of the controls. Now that they've had more than a week to think about it, SoundMan has once again done a car install of the wündertablet, this time sticking it into the dash of a 2004 Nissan Maxima.

Another day, another creation from another dude with a dollar and a dream. Oh, and a former Postal Service Jeep and some serious metalworking skills. Dean Shorey, Seabreeze Amusement Park's master ride mechanic – emphasis on "master" – took an old small-block and paired it with a mail truck, then dressed that heart in a fairly accurate representation of a Colonial Viper from the original Battlestar Galactica. And it's street legal, which is why there are New York license plates front and rear. On the other hand, there are no bumpers front or rear, but in space, no one can hear you... rear-end someone... Ever wonder what happens to all those supercars that go to the Persian Gulf? After seeing this images, we kinda wished we hadn't.
This Jaguar XJ220 – a veritable poster child for the dawn of the modern supercar era, the one-time standard bearer of the 200 MPH Club and one of only 281 produced – made its way from Coventry to Lebanon, then through a Dubai dealership before finally ending up in Qatar.
