Here's a reminder to read your paperwork before signing for your used car purchase. Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster has cracked down on seven unscrupulous used car dealers in Missouri for violation of laws governing the sale of used vehicles, including violations that could compromise the safety of people purchasing the vehicles, according to a news release from his office.

That last bullet item is the most important. Basically, the used car dealers were misrepresenting their products and customers were unwittingly going along. Read everything before signing on the dotted line. If any aspect of the transaction makes you uncomfortable, walk away. Don't let high-pressure sales tactics make you buy an unsafe used car.
Koster encourages consumers who have recently purchased vehicles from other dealerships without current, valid safety inspections, or without obtaining immediate valid titles, to contact the Attorney General's Office at www.ago.mo.gov or by calling the Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-800-392-8222.
