The National Consumer Law Center, based in Boston, has called for tougher standards for used car repossessions, including court orders or minimal due process before a vehicle could be taken by a lender. The NCLC bills itself as "the nation's consumer law expert, helping consumers, their advocates, and public policy makers use powerful and complex consumer laws on behalf of low-income and vulnerable Americans seeking economic justice."

GM struggling to market turbo technology

In the automotive realm, marketing can sometimes prove just as important as the actual product. Take, for instance, Ford's well regarded EcoBoost technology, which couples turbocharging with direct injection to produce more horsepower and reduce fuel consumption. Would it surprise you to hear that General Motors has had similar technology on the market for over three years?

Video: New animated series The Driver is our kind of awesome

There's a reason we still stand behind the OG Speed Racer. Yes, the animation was about a half-shade above what we could crank out flip-book style, and yes, to call the plot repetitive would be gracious at best. But the series also featured what we loved most as young auto-obsessed creatures – insane cars doing insane things fender to fender every Saturday morning. That series likely drove some of us to bust our own knuckles and put our first cars through the kind of hell that can only be attributed to a proper learning curve.

F1 turbine engine proposal being analyzed by FIA?

Think F1 racers are more like fighter jets than cars? You're not far off. Both F1 cars and jets are made primarily of lightweight composites, travel at ludicrous speeds, generate unfathomable Gs of force, have single-seat cockpits, cost millions of dollars, and are developed (and operated) by more engineers than a train yard full of locomotives. And the similarities could be getting even closer if the latest reports are anything to go by.

Deal or No Deal: 2004 Jeep Wrangler with Salvage Title

I'll let you in on a little secret. To find blog ideas, I use Google Alerts. So, when an alert came across for a 2004 Jeep Wrangler with Salvage Title for $1000 I was intrigued. It seemed like a good price for me - until I did a little digging. It has to be one of the biggest "No Deal" used cars I have ever stumbled upon.
Turns out the $1000 was only the current bid for this used Wrangler on eBay. The Wrangler has a "buy it now" price of $10,500. I practically spit out my Diet Coke because Edmunds.com says it's worth $8449 - and that's not factoring in the salvage title.
Of course the prospective seller spins an interesting tale (with the original grammar):
