Toyota reportedly mulling longer warranties, cash incentives to rekindle consumer confidence

E-mail Print PDF

In light of the litany of recall-related problems Toyota is facing right now, executives at the Japanese automaker are predictably being very selective about what they say – and when they say it. But while Toyota brass is playing its cards close to the vest, dealers are apparently starting to spill the beans about the automaker's plans to spur sales. Bloomberg is reporting that three executives from retailer groups with Toyota franchises reveal that the Japanese automaker is mulling the idea of extending warranties to as long as 10 years to gain back customer trust. E-mail Print PDF

If you are one of the owners of a Toyota subject to recall, don't rush into getting it fixed if you think it is safe to drive. Mechanics are going to be overwhelmed in the next couple of weeks and things are bound to be done in a sloppy manner because dealers are talking about being open 24 hours a day to make the repairs.

How much is that stretched Lancia Delta HF Integrale in the window? $136k, that's how much

E-mail Print PDF

With the popularity of the Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi EVO, it'd be easy to dismiss the likes of the Lancia Delta HF Integrale as a relic of the past. But make no mistake about it: The roadgoing version of this Italian rally machine is as exotic and desirable as any supercar to come from the same country. All the more reason, then, to be appalled at this unfortunate conversion job.

E-mail Print PDF

Southeast Toyota, which is the largest franchised distributor of Toyota vehicles in the world with 173 dealers in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina & South Carolina, has reportedly pulled all of its advertising from local ABC stations. Why? Apparently, the group decided that the television stations were airing "excessive stories on the Toyota issues" by ABC News and its chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross.
